Political Rant: Honor 9/11 But Move Beyond Bush

Hello Fellow Bloggers - The seventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks should be remembered and honored, but we should also think about the subsequent years themselves - how we reacted.

Despite the heroism of unnamed thousands over those years that kept us safe, the Bush Administration's reaction to 9/11 is now tainted by lies, conspiracies, cover-ups, war-profiteering, murder, fear-mongering, law-breaking, kidnapping, rendition, torture, and worldwide corruption - to name just a few already investigated by legitimate sources worldwide.

The generous world reaction and good works of law enforcement have been overshadowed by places like Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib. Seven years of countless evil deeds highlights today's American schizophrenia. We're split in half, one side hating it and the other calling it a necessary evil. Personally I think it's nothing more than the acts of corrupt people, power-hungry politicians and war-profiteers at their worst.

That "necessary evil" forced my fellow Americans to break international agreements, break or stretch laws, use fear to scare people worldwide, torture people, listen to our phone calls, read our emails, disregard habeas corpus, disregard posi comitatus, and perform countless despicable things - against those foundations that make us all a just and free people.

We need to end our divisions, and move beyond what the Bush Administration has done to us all. Rants & Raves honors the lives of the men and women who died seven years ago. We acknowledge the heroes who fought the hijackers and crashed in Pennsylvania, as well as the brave rescue teams. We pray for them and hope we can all live up to their good example. We also pray that those in the Bush Administration who have broken the law, abused their positions of power, and committed evil acts, ultimately are dragged to justice.
